The proposed Disengagement (from Gaza and N. Samaria) will not be on the agenda of the Democratic or Republican conventions. It does not gain the attention of the US electorate, US legislators, the US Presidents or the democratic challenger, unless the Israeli prime minister raises the issue. Prime Minister Sharon conceived the idea of disengagement and forced it upon the US during four months of lobbying.
Israel’s Prime Minister, and his spokesmen, err and mislead, when they claim that disengagement has been awarded by unprecedented US gestures, that President Bush’s supportive declarations obligate his own Administration and the succeeding administrations and that rejection of disengagement would undermine US-Israel relations.
