Why Ground Offensive?!

Ynet Hebrew edition, July 18, 2006

A comprehensive, decisive and disproportionate ground offensive is a prerequisite for denying Hizballah and Palestinian terrorism the capabilities to bomb the center of Israel, to whack the psyche of civilians in northern and southern Israel, and to hit sensitive Israeli defense and civilian installations.

KEEP TERRORISTS CLOSE TO THEIR END ZONE

Ynet Hebrew edition, July 10, 2006

"A cardinal rule in US football: Keep the other team as far as possible from your End Zone. The closer they are to their End Zone, the slimmer the chance that they will score a touchdown", taught me Jim Schoff, a fan of the Cleveland Browns. The rule applies to soccer as well: A team which foregoes the winning option and vies for a tie, adopts defense and relies on sporadic and limited offense, waives initiative.  Such a tactic erodes the confidence of its own players, bolsters the boldness of the rival team, improves the maneuverability of the rival team, which seizes initiative, scores goals and could win the game.

A SOLUTION TO TERRORISM

Ynet Hebrew edition, January 05, 2006

Palestinian terrorism has been fueled by the "Titanic/Ship of Fools" state-of-mind, which has afflicted Israel's leadership since the 1993 establishment of the Palestinian Authority (PA):

The Impact of “Disengagement” upon US Interests – Will Congress Conduct Hearings?

Straight from the Jerusalem Cloakroom #178, May 26, 2005

1.  ESCALATED TERRORISM.  The morally/strategically justifiable demolition of terror regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan is inconsistent with the creation/bolstering of a terror regime in Gaza, Judea and Samaria. The 1994-6 series of disengagements from 85% and 40% of the territory (and 100% and 95% of the population) of Gaza and Judea and Samaria have established the largest terrorist base in the world, led/harbored by PLO/PA graduates of terrorist camps in Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Libya and Tunisia. Since 1993 the PA has harbored anti-US terrorists. US GIs in Afghanistan and Iraq were encountered by Palestinian terrorists.

Reagan, the Pioneer of Global War on Terrorism

Ynet Hebrew Edition, June 07, 2004

President Reagan led the US battle on state-sponsored terrorism, vanquished the USSR and significantly enhanced US strategic ties with the Jewish State.

Gaza Giveaway – Tail Wind to Terror

Straight from the Jerusalem Cloakroom #158 , April 22, 2004

1. ISRAEL DISENGAGED ITSELF FROM GAZA ALREADY IN 1993 (and from 40% of Judea and Samaria), in accordance with the Oslo Accords. The outcome has been: 1,400 Israelis murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the last 10 years, compared with 215 murdered during the 15 years prior to Oslo. 8,000 Jews reside in Gaza, disengaged from the Arab population.  Israel's military presence there is in response to Palestinian terrorism.

Talk Hebrew, But Fight in Texanese

Makor Rishon Weekly, June 20, 2003

Senator Phil Gramm, The Texas Aggie, who was a powerful Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and a presidential candidate, was astounded to hear from a prominent Hebrew University professor, that Israeli concessions could moderate the PLO.  "Professor", he responded, "I'm not a Mideast scientist.  But, I was told at Texas A&M, where I taught economics, that if your kids are threatened by a poison ivy, you don't water and fertilize it.  The only way to de-poison ivy is by uprooting it!"

The Iraqi Die Was Cast

Makor Rishon Weekly, September 27, 2002

The die was cast, and the US war on Saddam's regime has been set in motion.  The transfer of the Central Command from Florida to the Gulf area, the completion of US military installations in Qatar and Northern Iraq (no-fly zone) suggest determination rather than indecisiveness. The lease, by the Pentagon, of Danish boats, specializing in the transport of tanks and armed personnel carriers indicate intent to employ ground forces, rather than just air force and navy bombings.  Accompanied by joint exercises between the US Marines and the Jordanian military not far from the Iraqi border, such developments send a lucid signal of purpose to destroy the Saddam regime.

Jerusalem still does not get it!

Makor Rishon Weekly, April 05, 2002

President Bush and his administration have outflanked israel from the Right in their hawkish battle against terrorism.  During his March 30, 2002 press conference in Crawford Texas, the President repeated five times his support of "Israel's right to defend itself," refraining from any explicit or implicit arm-twisting of Israel.  In fact, for the first time since Sept. 11, 2001, he has publicly lumped together the US war on Islamic terrorism and Israel's war on Palestinian terrorism.

Islamic Terrorism Targeting the United States

, September 29, 2001

Islamic terrorism has been an integral component of Mideast politics since the 7th century, 1,300 hundred years BEFORE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL.  Three of the initial four Caliphs - Umar, Uthman and Ali - were ousted through political assassinations, and each of the current Moslem leaders in the Mideast is facing the threat of Islamic terrorism, INDEPENDENT OF ISRAEL'S EXISTENCE OR ISRAEL'S POLICIES.
