A Hawkish Washington Welcome to Sharon

Ynet Hebrew Edition, May 06, 2002

94 – out of 100 - Senators and 352 – out of 435 - House Members welcome Israel's Prime Minister with a loud and a clear message, which reverberates in the Washington corridors of power: The Administration may threaten to pressure Israel, but it does not have the support to implement the threat. The unusually large majority has approved last week a joint resolution – supported by Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives, doves and hawks – which highlights the mutual struggle against terrorism, which was forced upon the US and Israel.  The resolution condemns Palestinian political terrorism, led by Arafat.

Ill-Advised UN Jenin Commission – A Major Blow to Truth

Ynet Hebrew Edition, April 28, 2002

THE EXTENSION OF LEGITIMACY TO THE "U.N. JENIN COMMISSION" PLAYS INTO THE HANDS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE AND OTHER SUPPORTERS OF THE PLO, while disappointing and weakening Israel's friends in Washington.  It bolsters the prestige of the UN, which is an anti-Israel organization, eroding Israel's sovereignty and Israel's posture of deterrence.  It advances a major goal of the Arabs - the internationalization of their conflict with Israel.

Who are you Colin Powell?

Makor Rishon Weekly, April 19, 2002

In 1991, the Chairman of the Joint C-o-S, Colin Powell, convinced President Bush #41 to abort the Gulf War, thus perpetuating the terror regime of Saddam Hussein. Consequently, the deterrence posture of the US was severely eroded, the anti-US wave of terror was drastically emboldened, climaxing on 9/11. Moreover, Saddam has evolved into a potential nuclear power, threatening US national security and requiring a US military effort, larger than the 1991 Gulf War.

In 2002, Secretary of State, Colin Powell, attempts to convince President Bush #43 to pressure Israel into a premature conclusion of its war on Palestinian terrorism, which would perpetuate the terror regime of the Palestinian Authority/PLO.

Jerusalem still does not get it!

Makor Rishon Weekly, April 05, 2002 President Bush and his administration have outflanked israel from the Right in their hawkish battle against terrorism.  During his March 30, 2002 press conference in Crawford Texas, the President repeated five times his support of "Israel's right to defend itself," refraining from any explicit or implicit arm-twisting of Israel.  In fact, for the first time since Sept. 11, 2001, he has publicly lumped together the US war on Islamic terrorism and Israel's war on Palestinian terrorism.

Cheney Shines in Israel

Ynet Hebrew Edition, March 20, 2002

A month prior to the 2001 election in Israel, Vice President Cheney shared with some friends his CONCERN ABOUT SHIMON PERES JOINING THE RACE, "lest he defeats General Sharon."  Shortly after Sharon's victory, Cheney asked: "Why would the General, who just won a landslide victory, revive the Oslo Process, by inviting Labor to join his government?!"
